About

Hello and welcome to the quirky and colourful sighthound illustrations by Elle J. Wilson.

My speciality are Greyhounds, Whippets and other Sighthound breeds.

I graduated in 1995 from The University of Central England in Birmingham with a First Class Degree in Theatrical Set and Costume Design. Although I never really set foot in a theatre since, apart from an Ice-cream usherette at the London Palladium.

However I think painting dogs was my “calling”. I painted dogs as a business venture when I was 14 at school, I would never have guessed that would be actually how things ended up. Teachers always wrote in their school reports that “Elle has an overactive imagination” (correct). “Elle will succeed in art (how right they were).

It’s not easy by any means, especially trying to grow three children up in the mix. But I’ve done it, I’ve persevered. I’m proud of the many paintings I’ve created over the years and honoured by the many personal commissions I’ve been asked to do, one being a rather odd life size puppet called Lola for the Nick Treadwell Gallery in Vienna, and had the privilege to have one of my artworks exhibited at The Kennel Club Art Gallery in London alongside some of the most talented dog portrait artists in the U.K.
